Foods - New York City
For those in New York, just found the following in the Village - both are great:
A salt and battery (get it.) English chippy on Greenwich Ave just down from 8th Ave. Cross St is Jane St I think. www.asaltandbattery.com Myers of Keswick Hudson St - south of 9th Ave. Pork Pies, Cumberland Sausages, Steak and Kidney, a whole host of other stuff - check out the url. www.myersofkeswick.com |
nice one, do they do delivery?
|
not sure, the fish and chips would be pretty cold by the time they got to Michigan!
|
There is also a fish and chip place in Brooklyn and Myers will send you supplies. Myers supplies a shop on Long Island and there are other shops on the island that are much cheaper:)
|
Don't forget:
http://www.teaandsympathynewyork.com/ next door to "A Salt & Battery". A shop selling stuff like Maltesers, Yorkshire Gold, Blackjacks, plus BBC videos and a tearoom that does stuff like clotted cream teas. Okay, I'm from Devon so the clotted cream lacks a bit, but it's a thousand times better than the whipped up concoction usually served here. |

I've been tempted a few times to get some pork pies from Myer's. Anyone have any feedback on how they taste? I like 'em moist and packed full of gelatin.
