Default Flying state to state

Do you need a passport to fly to another state or is a driving license fine? I have a passport but it is an older one. Should I get a new one anyway?

Thank you!

I travel for my job within the US. Photo ID is all that is required. EX Driving licence, passport, etc.
Passport is ONLY needed when flying out of the country. You can still use just Drivers Licence to go to Mexico and Canada )Well at least Tijuana and Toronto which my wife (Green card) has done
