Seriously, M'lady is right. double check with airline but from what I've heard it's tubs of gel, hairspray and after shave etc., you can't take on. A laptop with a huge 9v battery is OK now though !!

best advice is to check with your airline on the day of travel.

Re: Flying from Europe to USA - question
I'm flying from Düsseldorf to Orlando via Atlanta tomorrow and planning to take a laptop. The Delta website says that all laptops have to be carried on and not checked.
I'll let you know how I get on when I get Stateside.

the Civil Aviation Authority is the UK's specialist aviation regulator with the Federal Aviation Authority in the USA and rules and regs vary between the two.
BAA is the British Airports Authority which is the world’s leading airport company (or used to be).....they own and operate seven UK airports – Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Southampton, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen and may have expanded even more so.

Thank you...I should have said CAA not BAA.

Re: Flying from Europe to USA - question
Passengers can choose what to take on to a plane, but any form of liquid, fluid, lotion or gel will be banned. Electronic devices, such as laptops, will be permitted but will be thoroughly screened. The airlines always ask you to travel with your laptop in your hand luggage as the insurance claims if they were damaged would be enormous...
A medium-sized item of hand luggage will be permitted. This bag will be around half the size of luggage previously admitted.
