Florida Driving Licence

Hey guys,

Just hoping someone can answer a question to a concern I have. Landed in the US for good at the end of July and passed my Florida driving test today!

(Top tip: Don't try it in a Ford Expedition, there much bigger than you think, either that or the space between the cones is intentionally tiny!)

Anyway, processing my licence application later back at the desk he asked me if I had ever had a licence revoked, been stopped for DUI, been addicted to drugs and alcohol and all the usual things and I just answered no to all (I was kind of on autopilot and he was mumbling) then signed up and left.

I automatically assumed all the questions were aimed at being in the US so didn't think about telling him about a previous ban for drink driving in the UK till I'd got outside. So after 5 mins in the car pondering what to do I went back in and asked the same guy. He said it shouldnt be a problem as they have no access to foreign databases but the fact still remains, I answered NO to the questions and when the DMV processes my licence they have to verify my immigration documentation, and on which they will see said conviction. hence my concern.

If anyone knows anymore or has had similar, please let me know.

Many thanks folks,

Be safe.

Lee

A state DMV with access to all your federal immigration documentation? I rather doubt it! I'm sure there's a system whereby they get to check if you're here legally or not, but the answer is going to be boolean rather than detailed.

Hey,

Thanks for the reply. Im sure the DMV over in Tallahassee only have access to databases that can only verify the legitimacy of my Green Card and my resident status.
I was just wondering as I got my knicks in a bit of a twist over it.

Thanks anyway.

As long as you remember to keep your Cadillac blinker on while driving down the road like all other Floridians, you should be able to go around un-noticed anyway! ;)

That was funny!

I wouldn't worry about it.
