First time request for a Residency Certificate (taxation)
I am getting ready for my first years taxation in the US (2009, UK pension income is my only income). I was pretty much sorted when I realised I needed a form 6166. I downloaded form 8802 to request one.
As 2009 will be my first filing and I am applying for my first 6166 in the current tax year do I have to input anything into sections 5 and/or 6 (I do have to submit a tax return obviously but non of the check boxes seem to apply when it is for the first and current year year)? Many thanks for any help |
Re: First time request for a Residency Certificate (taxation)
If you are seeking certification for the current tax year and you are going to have to file a 1040 for the current tax year then presumably you should check the appropriate box in section 5.

Check the correct box in section 5- presumably you will have to file a tax return, you just haven't done it yet.
