First British passport--has anyone had to attend an interivew?

Has anyone actually had to attend an interview at a British embassy in the US for their first passport as an adult? I'm just wondering as I submitted my application for my first British passport 3 weeks ago (American-born, British citizen by descent through father). Thanks!

Yes I went for the interivew for mine, as it was my first passport.

How long after you submitted your app did they contact you for an interview?

Sorry, Jersey Girl--I promise I'll stop! ;) It's just that I'm planning travel to China and Guatemala in April and I'm hoping to get an idea of when I might be called for an interview if I will be asked to attend one.

Quite extraordinary--2 weeks and 2 days from their receipt for a first-time passport.
