First single was Mr Costello and his Attractions - Olivers Army.
An excellent single. About the same time I bought Genesis - Follow You, Follow Me. I'd moved on a bit from ABBA by then LOL

Me, my first album, I think it was Mike Oldfield, Tubular Bells....obviously not an original day one release though
Unfortunately I do remember it first time around. Jeez I'm old! A classic 70s album though. I always thought he was a bit underrated. Everybody remembers Tubular Bells and this one:

The first cassette that I remember buying with my OWN money was:

Thompson Twins - Into the Gap

I bought it at a record shop in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina during a family vacation in August 1984. I was 11 years old, going on 12. How's that for specificity?

Man, I listened to that thing on my Walk-man over and over and over...

Reminds me of seeing them at The Frontier in Batley when they were old and past it. Maybe they have always been old and past it

I bought very few albums and the only one that I can remember (but which I think probably was the first) was "The Fine Art of Surfacing" ...
