Hi Guys

Does anyone know of any good recruitment agencies in NJ or NYC specifically related to the finance sector?

I'm gathering from the other threads you already have a GC?

As for the specifics, right now is really a rough time to be looking from afar for a job in finance in NY/NJ. The layoffs have been rather large over the last year, and there is an abundance of workers looking for work with strong qualifications. It's just people aren't really hiring.

As such, you're going to have to do a lot of your search on your own, combing the jobs sites, including some more specialty sites such as theladders.com.

Unfortunately, predictions are pretty grim for the finance sector in NY given the new taxes/regulations proposed for the banks. There is currently a great deal of talk about MORE layoffs coming in the next few months.

Depends on which area you're working in. The IT part of the Financial Sector seems to be doing pretty well at the moment.

I've worked with Kforce and Robert Half in the past. They both have a good network of contacts in the NY area.

I've noticed that...which is why it's frustrating to be stuck on my L1B, not able to switch jobs

Funny you say that, because it's the one area that's getting really hit hard in my hub apparently, even though IT in general seems to be doing quite well in the beantown area.

Try Michael Page International; they operate in quite a few countries:

Quite a number of investment banks have relocated their back-office operations to Jersey City just across the River Hudson from Manhatten (which is like a small Canary Wharf) eg. Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan etc.
