As said, marriage is probably your only realistic means of coming over. Timeframe, from the moment my wife submitted the first lot of paperwork to me gaining my green card, 17 months (it took just under 5 months from me entering the country to getting my green card). Having been coming to California for the last 12 years, I've not experienced any culture shock. People say its different living here than coming here on holiday. They are right, it's miles better living here!!!!!! As you can tell, I've no regrets.
