Approaching 4 years of living here and it feels like home. I miss some things about the UK and usually making a batch of Brandy Snaps or devouring an Amazon-imported Crunchie or Angel Delight resolves it. I miss country pubs and the coastline but, for me, quality of life is so, so much better here. The US is a vast place so there's something here for everyone; I prefer the Northeast. There are many Brits and anglophiles around that will get your cultural references to Monty Python and Only Fools and Horses!
It's good to go back to the UK once a year and marvel about all the things that we missed and/or didn't take advantage of when we lived there (Europe-on-our-doorstep for one!)
Its very easy to keep in touch with family with technology, but I found you need to keep it regular.
