Favourite Places?

What are your favourite places in the States to visit and why?

Minnesota in the summer for the woods, the lakes and the friendly people. (There are mosquitoes, but that's what bug spray is for.)

Santa Fe, New Mexico, for beauty and this sort of *vibe* -- can't explain it really.

Texas' Hill Country -- again beauty and a vibe.

Love love love San Francisco..

Grand Canyon..needs no explanation.

loved New York, must go back soon, haven't been for years

Catalina Island..just fab..

Vegas..

God, I could go on forever actually, I've loved every place we've visited, even Florida.. :o wouldn't go again now but at the time it was great.

most of all though, I just love LA, many think its a smog infested dump but I just love it, the novelty hasn't worn off yet, and is not showing any sign of dooing so..where I live is just 30 miles from downtown yet its beautiful, we have everythnig we could ever need right on our doorstep..the only place I'm not keen on any more is Santa Monica, reminds me of Blackpool too much *shudders*..

Seattle and Boston probably my favourite cities so far, could easily live in either of those. Add Austin to that list. Also enjoyed Vegas, San Francisco, SF-LA coastline drive, (some of) the Florida Keys, New Orleans (pre hurricane - not been back since).

Pacific coast of CA. I've only been north of SF, specifically on the stretch up to Mendocino, but it is truly spectacular there. I want to visit the coast south of SF sometime soon -- I'm a long-time Ansel Adams fan, and many of his classic photographs were taken in that area.

Flagstaff AZ - Desert to the snow top mountains in an hour

Jerome AZ - A feel of what the wild west was like

Eureka CA - Amazing architecture (The Carson Mansion etc)

Pacific Coast Highway - Driving the full length, a long road I know - but constantly in awe

Boston is cool, but wouldn't want to live there, sod all marking, drive like loons and the accent....bugger... :D

Bar Harbor, ME....just at the end of April, before the tourists start arriving, it's a lovely place, superb national parks too.
