The family part of thanksgiving is so far down the list for me
I see them all through the year so I couldn't give two shits if I see them then. Food and a day off win for me. Actually, the best part of the day for me is after everyone has ****ed off, my wife and children are asleep and I can descend upon the kitchen for round four ...

The US bank holidays aren't too bad, when observed at the very least they are a day off work. As far as the ones my employer gives off - they really are no better/worse than the UK bank holidays.
We get a lie in on New Year's Day, three long weekends during nice weather months (plus, a parade in July is always a bonus for me ); a big feed on Thanksgiving and a nice quiet day in for Xmas.
I approve.
