While I don't necessarily think being your Dad's date for a whole dance is creepy ... I do find it a little odd, but JG's perspective makes sense.

To me a father-daughter dance (i.e. whole dance versus only one) is more similar to what I had previously described above. I would imagine that if the girls are older than they might to go to the dance with their Dad but spend a lot of time hanging out with their friends versus dancing with Dad all night.

I asked my 15 year old daughter about this last night. "Total creepshow" and "No way, wouldn't get involved at all." were her responses.

Give your kids an expensive gift, from Best Buy, and tell them to discard any invites to such events.

Otherwise, if you absolutely must go....listen to Luther Vandross singing "Dance With My Father" before attending.

Looking at the flyer again, I see there will be some kind of formal photographer, so it sounds a bit like a prom. I'm leaning ever more towards just ignoring this event unless she really expresses an interest.

Remind me not to walk alone in the woods anywhere near Kingston Elementary - and not just in hunting season.

OK ... the ones of the father and daughter gazing into each other's eyes, holding a carnation are too much ... that's beyond creepy.

I think that school is built on a massive superfund site. The school draws its drinking water direct from the leach pond.

Even worse is that someone thinks it is a good idea to have 50-odd photos at 2MB each on the one page.

It makes the page slow, indeed, but I don't think it's worse than the creepy, incest-suggesting content of said photos.

At first, I included one of the photos in the post, but without size tags it was huge.
