F-1 IT Student-Intern Opportunities WA
 
Does anyone know what IT internship opportunites are in Washignton State and is this a good route for H1B?

What kind of IT ? If you are a F-1 student currently, your best bet would be the Foreign Student or Placement Office of your school.

I was contemplating systems administration or network engineering. Thanks I will check with those departments :thumbup:

There certainly are "IT" internships available in Washington and elsewhere.

Internships are a very good way to increase your chances of being hired (and, in the case of a non citizen, being sponsored for an H1-B visa) but the competition for getting internships at the most sought after companies (think Amazon, Google, Microsoft etc - all of which have a significant presence in Washington state) is pretty intense - with any of those companies interns go through something which is only a little bit short of a full job interview and there are far more applicants than places but, if you do get in, it is definitely a big step towards getting a job offer when you graduate.

One, word of advice, however - to get an internship with any of those companies you had better be talking about a set of skills that are much more specific than just "systems administration" or "network engineering" ...
