F**K SAKES !

last night we had the worst ever storm  We were driving back from castleton VT (about 15 miles from home) I noticed the sky getting dark and then we hit what can only be described as a solid wall of water  Couldnt see past the bonnet and cars were in the ditch everywhere, trees came down in our path but my sole motivation was to get to a clear area before a tree hit us ! .... Got into our village to find the power off everywhere, the advantage we have is that we live near a major Champlain canal lock and are on the same electrical system which has a back up so when the town goes black we just get reduced power ! ... I have no idea where the emergency power comes from ? but it works for us.

I hope everyone else in the path of that storm is ok ?

It hit here in Yonkers last night just as I got into my car at the train station at 5:28 p.m. I thought like you it was as if someone opened a faucet all the way. The sewers could not handle the amount of runoff and they were flooding on each corner. Had the thunder and lightening but this time none of the trees that border the Bronx River Parkway and my street came down. We've had cars damaged for each major storm this month by limbs falling on cars. Thankfully we didn't lose power.

The power was on and off yesterday afternoon. My husband had to take a detour on his way home due to fallen trees.

We had a massive storm down here on monday.
I live in constant fear of the power going out at this time of year. With it being 100F+ outside and 80% humidity, we would be cooked alive in about 30 minutes with no A/C :(

Send some to Hattiesburg, MS. My daughter also has the 100+ heat but she said they are hard up for rain. And that after a spring of torrential rains and now an early dry summer.

Yesterday, I got soaked when an automatic sprinkler went off when I was crossing the street. :frown:

I drove 60 miles on I-90 yesterday without a hiccough.

It was the first rain we had had for nearly a month.

A couple of years ago when I was doing coast to coast work I stopped at a truck stop off I-20 in LA and during the night I was woken by really loud wind and noise, next morning there was a wide belt of trees and stuff down about half a mile from my truck, I was told a small tornado ran right through !
