That definitely gets into the category of "if you have to ask about this, then you don't know enough to do it"

Oh don't get me wrong, I wasn't about to recommend it.

But yes, it is doable on new house builds, but again can be a insurance problem.

Hi - sorry to bring up this old thread, but we are moving to USA shortly, and I'd like to bring our electric adjustable bed. We are bringing our other furniture, but were told to leave all appliances.

After googling and looking on here, do you thing a step up transformer would work? The bed has a frame, 2 mattresses which each rise at the head or the feet, and one of them has a massage function.

The electric bits are only used occasionally - occasionally when reading before bed. However, in the uk, the bed is left plugged in.

I suppose we could just use the bed as a bed without the electric, but it would be nice to use the functions too if a transformer would work.

Some people report a hum when using a transformer which could be rather annoying if you're trying to sleep. So you turn it off when not needed, then sit up, get out of bed, plug it in, get back into bed, use the power to raise the bed to a sitting position... sounds a bit daft! Not being rude, sorry. Then there's the fire risk thing, voided insurance and all that.

Find out how much you could sell it for, then find out how much it might cost to buy one here. It'll probably be worth it in the long run.
