Default Employers obligation - repatriation

Was terminated two weeks back, I485 was filed 9 months back, Employment Authorization card was issued in Jan this year.

My concern is that if I do not find employment in the next two weeks, I will need to file bankrupcy. Employer says that as I am now in the portable stage and Authorized to work in the USA that they have no obligation to provide repatriation and that I am on my own.

green card/stamp has yet to arrive, do not want to work outside my employment authorization, do not want to lose everything when I am so close to the end.

No permanent jobs in sight, can only find short term contract work !

The stress is killing me, money runs out in a few weeks, can not get unemployment or medicaid. The situation sucks !
