Default Emigration Travel Insurance

Hello - I am a dual national (UK and US) - having lived in the UK all my life, I am soon moving to the US

I do have a question though - does anyone know of good places to purchase Emigration Travel Insurance? Preferably one that lasts as long as possible after arriving.

Thank you!

Not sure if you'll need specialist insurance as you're moving here as a USC and not on a non-immigrant visa.

If you do need specialist insurance you could try Seven Corners.

It is difficult - most policies require that you've been in the country for some months before they will take you.

Your options also depend on if you have any pre-existing conditions that you are trying to have covered.

You could try an old-fashioned insurance broker - when we were moving out here we explained what we needed and they talked to their underwriters to get the "must be coming back to the UK" clause waived. We didn't need cover for as long as you do, but it's worth a try. This was "get hit by a bus" insurance, not "have your blood pressure taken" insurance, but that's all we wanted...

Can you not bring the health insurance forward a little from 1st Feb? This happened recently to my daughter...health insurance didn't kick in for 3 months so she offered to pay it herself. Fortunately her new employers agreed to extend the coverage and cover the extra costs.

It's OMIP, the Oregon State High Risk Pool, and they say policies can only start on the 1st of each month. It;s pushing it anyway as I need to establish residency too
