Florida home insurers can't raise rates or drop policyholders during the next 90 days.

The intent of an emergency rule, signed by Gov. Charlie Crist late Monday and approved by the Florida Cabinet on Tuesday, is to give the state's insurance regulators sufficient time to implement the changes required by the massive insurance bill that was signed last week.

The new law provides insurance companies the opportunity to buy additional lower-cost back-up insurance from the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund between now and June 1. Insurers are expected to pass on their savings to policyholders.

If Crist does manage to keep the Insurance companies under check, we may be able to stay here after all. We'll see how it goes. Good for you Charlie
