Default Elementary school system

I am a new immigrant and my son is 3.5 years old. I think that we should apply for the school place for him. I would be grateful for any instruction about the place where I can get more info.

In addition, there is a strange problem: due to my job, I travel a lot all over USA. Is there a must that my son remains in one place (school) all year long - or there is an option for him to pass the exams during the Summer. Are the school presence in the USA obligatory?

Thanks in advance

Friends of ours had real problems as the US schools are effectively a year behind so they needed extra tuition for their kids for when they returned to the UK - may be worth bearing in mind if you are heading home at any point

You can get information about schools from your local school board.

I would question the wisdom of moving a small child all over the US throughout the school year. Children need stability.

AFAIK, schooling is obligatory but some (most/all?) states have a homeschooling option. Again, your school board will be able to advise you.
