Default EAD and self employment

Hi guys,

I have a general question - can EAD holder (E3D visa) work for themselves? Like say my wife had to sell some small stuff on ebay?

Thanks.

Yes. And EAD allows you to work for anyone at all, including yourself.

Thanks. She has done this stuff couple of other countries and never declared any income primarily given it was done to keep her occupied more than anthing. Of course I am not suggesting any illegal ways of carrying it in US but it will be small stuff here and there and to be honest probably will struggle to break even. But I don't want to ignore my responsibility and want to stay away from trouble

Yes, but be aware of the tax situation if you are filing as non-residents as filing 1040NR as a self-employed person is rare.

Hi, I don't understand. I am still getting my head around this all.

Wife and I moved up here 7 months ago on a non immigrant visa (E-3 and E3D)...as I understand we both are/will be residents for tax purposes....

How does that change anything, if any?

It doesn't change anything. Steve likes to toss random stuff into the mix for, apparently, no good reason at all.
