Default EAD? Green Card? Help!

Is there a difference between a Green Card and EAD? I have a card that says that I am a Permanent Resident and on the back it says that I am authorized to work and reside in the US. Is that a Green Card? I moved to Hawaii in January with my husband who is a USC, we were married 6 months before we moved here from the UK, does that make a difference the the type of visa I am on?

Yes, there's a world of difference between the two - an EAD only allows you to work, nothing more than that, the green card shows that you are a permanent resident and allows you to work and travel.

Sounds like you have your green card there.

The green card is not a visa. A visa allows you to enter the country and has other benefits depending on what type of visa it is, i.e. multiple entry and/or authorisation to work.

I suggest a read of the new immigrant's guide, (available in pdf form).
