A friend of mine has asked me to bring home the Lost series on DVD. Question is will the DVD's work on UK DVD players?

Not unless s/he has a multiregion player or s/he or you has the ability to copy the disk and break the region coding.

Nope, not unless they have a multi-region DVD player, which you can buy in the UK. UK uses PAL format and the US uses NTSC format.

Yes -- unless you know a local nerd. Really quite complicated to do it from scratch if you've not done it before on your computer -- er...allegedly!

http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=338395

or you could take her a DVD player from here as a gift; multiregion one as discussed in the above thread... only 30$!! she would just need to address the plug/current issue

Or you could lend her camcorder when you visit the UK, bring it back to the States, play the DVD on your television while taping it with your friends camcorder, mail the camcorder and tape back to your friend............ or wait until next time you go to the UK and return it in person, which will save on postage

get your mate to look over - http://www.videohelp.com/

or http://www.dvdcodes.net/ and if there player is in one of the sites and they can crack their player, sorted..if not, they'll have to get another dvd player, but there cheap enough, hmv had one for £20 a few weeks back that was regionless..

Most dvd players in the uk are multiregion. buy it anyway and if she cant get it to work... give it to me! ha

or she can download shrinkdvd and rip a multiregion copy of the disc for free!
