it depends on the quality you want, if you want a decent one that washes well and will last for years, try the link for roomandboard or garnethill I just gave, there's are excellent quality but will cost you more, if you go with Ikea I would also buy the cover from there as others don't fit too well, Ikea's covers never seem to have buttons on the bottom though so the duvet ends up falling out of the bottom of the cover..

They are very pricy indeed. Maybe I'll wash my comforter and wait until someone visits from the UK.

The other stores that have both duvets and covers are Belk and Stein Mart, if you have either of those where you are.

I had the same problem when we first came here. As already posted most of the large stores sell duvets. I have just bought a king size down duvet from TJ Maxx for $100, Target, Marshalls sell them too. One thing to note that an UK king size is queen size here and UK double is full size. There is no such thing as a tog rating in the US.

I found that the bigger problem was trying to get a decent cover. I went to Fortunoffs in Wayne for mine. The higher the thread count the softer the cotton, the higher the thread count the more expensive it is. I found with say 600/700 thread count they must be washed in cold water or they will shrink every time you wash them, they just get smaller and smaller. This will also occur if you try to tumble dry them even on low heat. Also the chemicals in the water ruin the fabric. My solution was to use a flat sheet between me and the duvet, so that I wash the sheet and not the duvet cover.

Pillows, now there's another problem. Different size pillows for different size beds.

I got feather and down ones from Wal-Mart - they are lovely
Buy 2 flat sheets and sew them together- for the covers.
