Duty on goods Uk to US
Hi, a friend in the UK is wanting to buy a gift for my kid and send it directly from the supplier to us (in CA). It costs around 550GBP. I'm now panicking about duty! Does anyone know what the duty might be? (it's a framed signed Chelsea shirt). I've tried googling it and saw estimates of $350!!! Thanks! (Apologies to non-Chelsea supporters!

Take it out of its frame - the size and shape of the frame will make it expensive to ship anyway, not to mention that it may well arrive damaged. So the question to ask is: "What's a "soiled" Chelsea shirt worth? $50?

Have to agree, remove it from the frame.
Then send $200 towards reframing here in the States,.
They will still be ahead.

Why not just go to Walmart/Dollar Store once it arrives minus the frame and buy cheap a cheap can of furniture polish or windex then voila found a use for the shirt. Even more ahead of the game.
