I have never bought them at the airport but the last time I looked I didn't think duty free was really any cheaper (I am talking about the tab 2), my hubby got his cheaper on sale at Costco.

In general I'd have thought that US retail was cheaper than UK duty free for many things.

Often the premium of existing inside an airport pushes the base price upwards so while it may be "duty free", the price had it had duty may be much more than the high street anyway. So knocking off the VAT or whatever is locally applicable only drops it back to around high street prices.

... and in some cases it can still be quite a bit more expensive.

On a recent trip back to Europe I bought a last minute gift in the duty free shop at SFO and ended up paying $25.99 for a bottle of Tequila that would have cost me $19.99 + 8.75% sales tax in my local liquor store ...
