DUI on H1b visa application

I already spent three years in California
under J1 visa till 2000 then went
back to Europa. During my stay there,
I got a dui conviction in 1999, then
paid the fine and completed the school
before I left the country. I guess
this figures on my criminal record.
I am now about to come back there
since I received a new job offer
from Pensylvania.
How could the conviction influence the
application for H1b visa or another J1?
could I get a visa denial?
If you have heart anything about some
similar previous experiences,
thanks for letting me know.

Re: DUI on H1b visa application

It should not affect it at all. DUI's are specifically excluded even from
"deportabe" violations. Depending on how it was handled, it might not even
be a conviction - check with an attorney who represented you for the DUI.
