DUI on H1B visa application
 

I already spent three years in California
under J1 visa till 2000 then went
back to Europa. During my stay there,
I got a dui conviction in 1999, then
paid the fine and completed the school
before I left the country. I guess
this figures on my criminal record.
I am now about to come back there
since I received a new job offer
from Pensylvania.
How could the conviction influence the
application for H1b visa or another J1?
could I get a visa denial?
If you have heart anything about some
similar previous experiences,
thanks for letting me know.

A single DUI is not generally considered a "Crime of Moral Turpitude"
which would keep you out of the US, although multiple ones might. You
should mention the DUI and have proof that it has been dealt with.

If you go to USA Immigration Services at
http://www.usais.org/a/1062/ you
can get an answer specific to your question, but usually if you are honest
about any criminal activities, you will put yourself in a better situation
than if it is determined that you were less than forthcoming.
