Question Dual UK/US citizen needing a UK passport renewal

Hello,

I am a UK citizen holding dual US nationality (as of 2009). I need to renew my British passport which apparently, now means sending it back to the UK for processing.

Part 3 of the application form says to send in all current passports from all countries.

Is it OK to send in a color photocopy of my full US passport with a note saying I need it for travel. The footnotes say they might accept this but I wanted to ask advice.

ALSO: I have read about foreign transactions being rejected by the banks over here in the US. What can I tell my US bank in advance to make sure the fee is taken without a problem?

Thank you in advance.

Kiki

Others on here have provided a copy of their US passport no problem. When my wife renewed her UK passport last year she didn't included any details of her US passport. Her UK passport was renewed without any problem, and it shows on it she was born in the US.

A colour photocopy will suffice. If you're a naturalised citizen then you could get away with not sending anything other than your British passport.

Tell your bank that you're expecting a payment to be taken in the UK and give them an estimate of roughly how much it will be in US dollars.

Thank you so much for your replies. I think I'll send in a photocopy of my US passport and see how it goes.
