Dual Nationality
I would like to live with my girlfriend in the El Paso, US.
1. How do I go about getting Dual nationality? 2. What would I need in the meantime to live in the US? 3. How long does it take? 4. Can I do this all online or postal? 5. Can I do all this from the UK as I go to the US on holiday to see her but hopefully want to stay in the US by aug 05. 6. Does being ex HM forces speed anything up or help at all? |

Then you'll move here and need to get married with 90 days. The Green card you'll get is conditional for 2 years. After the third year of being a permanent resident you may be eligible for US Citizenship. However with the INS right now add anything from an extra 6 months to 2 years on that timeline. |

Whilst you're working on getting to be with her in the US, don't forget that she can come and visit you in the UK! |

You need to get going now for a Fiancee Visa. Should be OK with a year to plan but lots of docs to gather and you just never know. 6. Does being ex HM forces speed anything up or help at all? I think if you join the US forces you can get faster Naturalisation, is that what you had in mind? And there is a question on one of the forms about previous military experiance, could never work out quite why and whether it was a plus or a minus, may be linked to the one about being a member of the Nazi party. ex CCF! |

The immigration process for El Paso is completely different than the rest of the USA. In fact El Paso is the left armpit of the world (with Houston being the right) so they are actually paying people to immigrate there. The only requirements are a heartbeat and a bar of soap. You do have a bar of soap, don't you? |
