Love drying my laundry outside, unfortunately my cheapo rotary airer didn't stand up to winter so well.

You also might find that people will not dry clothes outside due to allergies. I don't want pollen, dust and mold on my clean clothes. And with the energy efficiency of newer dryers, I don't see a big deal about the utility bill. Our utility bill in the UK was higher than our US bill, and that was without a dryer in our UK flat.

Fire hazard:blink:I wonder if they've ever compared the number of fires caused by malfunctioning tumble dryers with blocked vents to those caused by spontaneously combusting lines of soggy laundry:rofl:

HOA rules dont allow us to hang our laundry up, but the pool stuff always hangs anyway....and I have to admit, it does fade pretty quickly.

For about 3 months a newbie English neighbour has been hanging hers on a rotary line in the backyard, (but in full view as she backs onto a lake) and so far claims not to be have been contacted about it....although her landlord is overseas, so maybe the letters are getting stuck somewhere...

I agree on the utilities - ours is a gas dryer, and its on most days of the week, but we rarely break over $30/month in the summer for dryer/hot water/cooking

My most loathed household chore is ironing so I'm in love with my dryer. Just have to remember to get the dry clothes out promptly. Haven't touched the iron in years. Love it.

I think it's because there's a plastics and metal works factory just a wee bit over the road from us....either way, a rather large chimney....still doesn't make much sense :D

Yes, I'd read about that here in the Deseret State :rolleyes:

Still, we could hang clothes on a line if we wanted to (not really overlooked), but with a gravel pit still being excavated a few hundred yards away, I don't think there'd be much point as it'd all get dirty again on the line:lol:

Our HOA says No but like others we have a gas dryer with a huge drum. I worked back in UK so never hung out there either, I used a clothes horse and it took at least a day for dry clothes. Now it's a 50 minute wash and 40 minute dry, wheek the stuff out on a timely manner and your barely need to iron - love it!

I love to dry stuff outside although means more ironing. Wonder what our new stuck up neighbours in their big brand new McMansion will make of hubby's underpants flapping around in the wind!:eek:
