oh but alcohol causes a “high” and is much more widely abused than marijuana….
Alcohol causes a 'low' / depression. It doesn't cause a high.

I've smoked for 57 years no high incidence of sick leave or illness caused by smoking. Not everyone is like me but there are more like me than you or healthcare cares to acknowledge.

Not everyone who smokes will get lung cancer, but the prevalence is far higher among those that do/have smoked then those that have never smoked. That's just an empirical fact.

And I'm a former smoker.

The Land of the Free.
It's so often the states that cry freedoms loudest, that seem to be more welcoming about employer intrusion, in this instance, intrusion into health privacy, as far as demands for providing prescriptions.

If the metabolites show up in your system then yes, that's exactly what they (or rather, the testing company) will do.

Once you demonstrate that you have an appropriate prescription for whatever substance showed up in the test, they will report it as a negative to the employer and they will be none the wiser about your medical issues.

Drug test is not required for the majority of professional jobs.

Sometimes it's not even driven by the employer, it's done because the insurers won't insure the company without drug screen etc.
I even saw it when I was working in Canada - when we had more investors in our company, they demanded the C-level staff all be drug tested.
