Six is a good number, it means you probably have one of those big Ford or Dodge trucks with 4 wheels on the rear axel - in which case you needn't take any notice of the road rules.

If you get pulled over by the police make sure you keep your hands where they can be seen, and wait for the kind man to tell you different otherwise it may turn out to be a fatal mistake. Enjoy your stay.

- Watch out for people turning right on red lights. It's legal over here.
- If you're turning left at traffic lights onto a multi-lane road, stick to the left lane until you're round the corner (see previous point for the reason)
- Undertaking is legal (and required as many drivers have no idea about pulling over to the slow lane)
- The delay on traffic lights changing is a lot slower than over in England
- SUV's have right of way in any situation (or atleast they think they do)
- If you see an emergency vehicle (police, ambulance, fire truck, volunteer firefighter) you are supposed to pull over and come to a complete stop.
- 4-way stops, first one to stop has right of way, if two people stop at the same time, the one to the right has right of way.
- Indicating? What's indicating?
- In honesty, if a person DOES indicate it is usually AFTER they have started the lane change or after they are already in the turning lane...etc...
- Mirrors? What are they for?
- As a rule, if a driver can do anything to get in your way, they will.
- American drivers of manual cars seem to have no idea about clutch control and may roll back prior to starting to move forward.
- If a school bus comes to a stop and puts on it's red lights.. STOP! If you don't the driver is liable to take down your license plate number and report you to the police. (This also counts if you are on the opposite side of the road to the school bus)

- Don't expect anyone to show you any consideration when driving (if it happens, be surprised)

Enjoy!!
Well done, wanted to Karma you for that, but must spread

I saw somebody come to an abrupt stop on a multi lane freeway - the fire-ambulance thingy swerved violently to avoid rear-ending the stopped car, the car behind the fire-ambulance thingy had triplets, and went onto the grass bank before chucking out everything to gain altitude, I was about 200 yards behind watching the best live reality TV show I had ever seen.
