Driving in the UK whilst visiting
Can someone please tell me if I am able to drive in the UK on my US licence? I am visiting the UK for a month next week and I am not clear as to if an International Permit is required or I can just use my US licence.
Thank you for any responses :) Mrs H the S |

US licence should be fine are you renting a car? Just make sure you are insured on whatever you drive. I know people may say d'oh but be surprised at number that dont check!

If you're paying with your US credit card you might find you're covered for insurance on a rental car we are

Have you called your CCard company and asked them if you are covered I know of a few folk that also have this facility. |

AmEx have a thing that costs $25 per instance that offers quite a lot on top too. Also check your car insurance policy, which might cover rental too. |

Re: Driving in the UK whilst visiting
Thanks for your replies everyone . Phew, good to know I can just take my AZ licence. I have got car insurance sorted ahead of time as well. Good tips from you guys regarding getting the insurance through your card. Must look into this at some point.

I've only driven once in the UK, and afterwords swore myself to the Tube, taxis and trains. It just felt so unnatural, haha. How do Brits feel driving in the US?
