Default driving in CA query

hello I'm visiting CA in july for a holiday. My q is can I drive on my UK licence - Its an old paper version?

I've never driven on the "wrong" side of the road and was going to have a lesson?

Yes you can, as a visitor..

The key is making sure you are insured, either with a rental car or a privately owned vehicle...

No need to upgrade it I drove out here on a paper one for years, worry about how long you're staying and if you have insurance, not what your license looks like.

But if all you have is the paper one, it's worth getting a £5 international drivers permit from the AA, it's only a translation for most people, but having a photo is handy, if nothing else as a ID.
