Drinking in Wisconsin
I can remember the days when Wisconsin had the drinkning age at 18 when neighboring states had 21, and the young people drove over the border to go drinking (great idea, then they had to drive home ). But this article surprised me a bit. Not sure what I think about some of it.
15-year-old kids drinking in bars legally? Hmmm. I remember my parents giving me tastes of wine or ice cream drinks or something even when quite young, and I do think that was good - removed some of the mystique, and I didn't feel compelled to go out and get drunk as soon as I could. But several beers? In the bar? Dunno. Maybe that's good - for the above reason. Or maybe not...
It sounds like their drinking culture (re. lots of bars/pubs, drinking a bit more) might be more in line with the Brits (vs. us supposedly alcohol-phobic yansk) - or not?
The laws re. drinking and driving are absolutely outrageous though.

Re: Drinking in Wisconsin
Except for the DUI laws, I completely agree that it should be legal for a parent/guardian to give their child alcohol in reasonable amounts It removes some of the 'forbidden' effect from the alcohol, and I believe it could help reduce some of that binge drinking later on. A kid needs to develop a healthy respect for alcohol and what it can do to people.
