Yes .. just switch everything off while draining and refilling ..

I wonder how long I'd have to run it to exchange about a third of the water...

I guess I can only play it by ear and test again after a few hours? Or do you have any other suggestions?

about 24 hours ......If your deep end is 6ft deep ...take it down to 4ft .....
and then refill...It will take longer than you think ..I just drain out to the woods ... do not drain onto any lawns ..it will kill them ...

Took us about 6 hours to empty the entire pool and 24 to fill it back up again.
Drained ours into the road.
