Don't they eat Donald over here?

Now I know he is a beloved Disney character, but I am quite partial to a bit of Donald...

nice with orange sauce, or crispy in pancakes...

I can find every kind of Turkey, every kind of chicken but no fresh Donald, whole or just Breast, even legs.

None in Walmart, none in Publix, none is sweet bay.

Is there an embargo on eating Disney characters?

I don't want any mickey, goofy or pluto. I just want some Donald.

Where can I find some?

Even better can I get foie gras over here?

I know where you're coming from. In many parts of the country it's difficult to get duck.

Over here I found some in WalMart at Christmas and stocked up.

Also Bristol Farms have duck breast, expensive but very good.

Sure you can get it mail order.

My wife makes a delicious crispy duck curry.

Whole Foods sell fresh and frozen duck in CO - and I can always get it at my local Asian Restaurant.

I've never shopped for food at Walmart, but all my local chain supermarkets carry duck -- breasts and whole. If you are stuck, you could order online -- Maple Leaf Farms and D'Artagnon are established brands with websites.

I shop mostly in asian supermarkets -you can get all of donald there. Including little baggies of feet...

Certain states frown on the sale of Fois.

Duck is, apparently, very popular, but mostly with people who shoot their own dinner. I see plenty of trucks decorated with hunting-related stickers that include a duck head. A neighbor of ours has a jon boat with a grass-and-reeds duck blind mounted on it.

Get it all over the place around here....but a minging small duck is about $20 and a decent one from Wegmans is about $40.

dartagnan looks like great site thanks,

anyone recommend buffalo or something we brits don't usually eat?

As they say the way to a mans heart is through his stomach, and any delicious foods I can get here may bring the US into my heart!

Glad D'Artagnan works for you -- I buy their duck in my local store. I love buffalo -- use the ground meat for burgers on the grill in the summer. It is a natural meat as the animals are herbivores and not usually artificially fed. I make burgers with buffalo and add a nice slice of grilled Portabella mushroom that has been brushed with fresh thyme in salt and peppered olive oil.

Buffalo is nice, but better get it from certain places rather than the branded stuff as that's not that great.

You can get Beefalo, which is a hybrid of buffalo and moo for not much money.

Elk and moose are lovely, but quite gamey and along with deer, can make you fart like a trooper.
