Child benefit received by a US person is US taxable incidentally.

Mute. As you cannot receive CB from the UK after moving to the UK.

CB was paid into our UK building society account for years after we moved...despite informing them several times. Years later they caught up and demanded reimbursing. Fortunately the money hadn’t been touched and was still in the account.

Not necessarily. If you elect to be treated as a US tax resident for the full tax year when moving to marry a US citizen, which is often worthwhile, you would be taxed on it.
