Default Discount business class fares?

So I've seen the long thread from Tonrob about how to accumulate miles and so on, that would be a longer term prospect for me perhaps, but I probably don't fly often enough to gain significant miles that way .

I want to fly back this summer, may or june and am *maybe* going to try and buy business class if I can make it fit the budget.

Has anyone dealt with companies (Like Skylux Travel) that specialise in discount business class fares? Any tips?

When I see you can only book by telephone and not online I get worried the company is a coupon broker. I see they also offer upgrades from economy to business, again suggesting they are using frequent fly miles they have purchased to buy tickets which they sell at a profit.

I flew to Germany the other week in Premium Economy, and while be doubtful of the benefit at the time, it did actually make quite a difference to the comfort level (nothing like business of course!). For an extra $200 it was worth it.

The part of this article which discusses consolidators tickets is worth a read.

Just to clarify - I don't fly (paid fares) often enough to accumulate any significant amount of miles. The majority of my thread concerns obtaining miles via other means.

That said, good luck. Business class fares vary wildly from airline to airline, and also even with the same airline/same flight the prices will fluctuate more widely than in economy as they move through fare buckets. Definitely have a jolly good rummage through different airlines, different routings and different dates.

Will do. We just don't fly often enough to accumulate significant miles, and now that Delta have changed the way they reward miles, we'll have even less. But I will keep checking them out and let you know.

Not for this Summer's trip, but if you want Delta miles then the SunTrust Delta debit card is the way to go.

There are lots of US credit cards that come with significant signup bonuses for making a minimum spend. 100k BA miles on Chase comes to mind. Search on flyertalk.com if you wish to investigate this further. This doesn' t mean you end up with free business class tickets, but you could easily end up with paying for economy and upgrading to business, or getting a business class ticket and paying fees and charges similar to the price of an economy ticket.

I travel quite a lot and often end up in business even though my company pays for economy.

audi4t is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Re: Discount business class fares?

My wife and I are flying business class Atlanta to Stuttgart at the end of May.

120,000 ff miles each - if I paid cash money it would be $7,400 each.

Economy was $1,700 each when I booked the tickets.

Even a discounted business class is still going to be way more than economy.
