Default Detroit Red Wings

It's been a long time since I did anything other than use Detroit as a border crossing, but I am thinking of taking my son to an upcoming Red Wings game. He's a big ice hockey fan and wants to visit the Joe Louis Arena before it closes in a couple of years.

We'll be arriving early to mid afternoon on Friday of next week. We might stay overnight in a hotel after the game but we might just drive on to London, Ontario immediately after. I'm not sure what the Detroit-Windsor tunnel traffic will be like after the game.

So I'm looking for recommendations for parking (with and without hotel), restaurants and possibly a hotel near "The Joe". Thanks in advance.
