Detroit Question

Hello peeps - I'm going to a ballgame next month and wanted to couple that with a cheap Restaurant.com gift certificate :p
Anyone been to Foran's Irish Pub on Woodward St.? If so, how much of a walk would that be up to Comerica?

Cheers.

Sorry don't know the pub, but if you hang around near the ball park which is in the downtown area of Woodward Avenue safety isn't an issue.
Have always felt safe walking around that area..often with our kids in tow.
Go Tigers !! :)

Just looked at the link you gave for the pub...still don't know it, but looking at their map it should be a short (safe) walk to Comerica....have fun !

Re: Detroit Question

as I said,
Chelli's Chili and Hockeytown Cafe are a stones throw from the ballfield.
Also try the Ellwood bar and Grill, they have a shuttle bus to Comerica.

Thanks again Manc. I think I pm'd you before I found the Foran's deal.
Jan - it was Avenue, not Street - sorry. Mapquest says it is 0.6 miles to the ballpark, which would be a good 'burn' for the calorific libations.
I'll give that place a go. A $25 gift certificate for just $5. All you have to do is spend at least $35 on 2 entrees. They add 18% gratuity, but since it is $20 of free food I can't complain :D
Plus the Guinness should be cold
Looking at their site it looks like they have a huge selection of Michigan beers plus a selection of Faygo in glass bottles :o

as Mike indicated, Woodward Avenue turns to shit pretty close to downtown Detroit.......... unless it's right next to Comerica I'd think again.
(but looking at the map / site it's right downtown and should be fine)

some nice area's on Woodward Ave are Ferndale and Royal Oak about 10 miles north of Comerica.

Re: Detroit Question

I work downtown and if you want a decent pre game lunch then the Hard Rock Cafe is a good shout. Its located in the Compuware HQ - about a 5 minute walk to the Park.

Another option is the Detroit Brewing Company (on Broadway). This is even closer to Comerica Park.

Greektown has plenty of good restaurants, you could park there and jump on the people mover. You would exit at Grand Circus, this is just opposite the stadium.

Feel free to pm me.
