Departure record for GC-Holders?

Hi,

How does the tracking of GC-Holders work?

I´ve never noticed an INS officer when I left the country and the airline personnel does swip the card or the passport, so how does this system work?

They ask you when you come back. And if they sense that you are lying to them, they
may ask you to provide evidence, e.g., boarding passes.

Thanks for your answer!

I spend about 12 weeks in my home country due to surgery.

I did not keep my boarding pass, because I allways thought they have a kind of tracking system, but I wondered how it works because I never noticed an INS officer.

Do you think a letter from my doctor (He did the surgery) would count as a proof?

They will also check the home country's stamp of arrival / departure in your
passport. AN

If there is such a thing. A lot of countries don't put such stamps in the passport.
An example are EU countries. Citizens of EU countries do not get entry/exit stamps.

What about the letter that I´ve mentioned?

Would that be enough to prove how long I was out?

Thank you!

I think that the doctor's letter would be adequate evidence of your physical presence
in a particular place.
