Default Dentists

Do you keep up with regular checkup? Do you have Dental insurance?

I hadn't seen a dentist in the States until last decemeber I have been in the States coming up to 5 years! Last December I had to have a crown fitted and a filling done ($1100). I went today for cleaning etc and was told I need a bridge (approx $3000). After the december incident I got dental insurance through work but it is still not that great it won't even cover half the cost of a bridge.

Like everything else health related, very expensive in the US. OK I'll quit whining now.

Yep and yep. I'm quite happy with the dental treatment me and mine have received since we've been here.

I go to the same dentist as my daughter. Yes he's a pediatric dentist, so very used to working on tiny teeth and extremely thorough. Had one bloody awful experience though with another dentist - hubby and I both call him "Doctor Death" he was so horrible.

the trick to dentistry is to go every 6 months for checkup. head off problems before they occur. much better on nerves, and bank account.

No the real trick is to get a full set of dentures and never visit a dentist again.

I love my dentist. I do go every 6 months for a cleaning, and haven't had any problems in a long time. I do not have dental insurance, so when I did need one implant, it did cost - worth it though.

Interestingly, his hygeniest is from England - and she is absolutely lovely! Can clean teeth, and even do novacain, so you don't feel a thing!

I've had great experiences with dentists over here. Had my first cleaning last month and my hygenist did a bang up job. My smile looks brand new. The best part was after the cleaning when my dentist inspected my teeth and told me I had no cavities and did not need any fillings. This was after a 5 year gap between seeing my last dentist in the UK and visiting my new one here in the US. Yay!

You have to have dental insurance over here or you will be paying an arm and a leg. Ours is good, we get $2k coverage each per year plus 2 free cleanings each a year.

I intend to go every six months for a checkup and I'm not nearly half as scared now as I used to be.

experience has been mixed, but generally not to bad, just not to cheap without insurance, but we had half decent insurance with the missus' previous place, well for the regular check up type stuff...and pretty much the same now...still not had the time to see one around here in ages though.

I have dental coverage here. My dentist is awesome. I had a lot of problems when I first came here and I blame my UK dentist. Since I arrived I have had my wisdom teeth removed, braces for two years and crowns. I love my US dentist!
