Denied Entry to USA
Hi All
I am permanent resident of Canada, national of Commonwealth country. Few days before i tried to enter USA through Buffalo POE for visiting purpose but denied entry by INS officer. The reason he described in a paper says refused admission 212(a)(7)(A)(i)(I). could you please tell me what it means for future entry to USA?
Thanks a lot.

Of all the possible reasons for refused entry, this code is the least
problematic one.
From the INA ...
(A) Immigrants.-
(B) In general.-Except as otherwise specifically provided in this
Act,
any immigrant at the time of application for admission-
(C) who is not in possession of a valid unexpired immigrant
visa,
reentry permit, border crossing identification card, or
other
valid entry document required by this Act, and a valid
unexpired passport, or other suitable travel document, or
document of identity and nationality if such document is
required under the regulations issued by the Attorney
General
under section 211(a),
...
This is often used as the code to show things like "You don't have any
proof to show that you have a residence abroad you have no intention of
abandoning" or proof of funds or ... the list goes on.
So, why did he *tell* you that he couldn't admit you ? That could have
been put in the computer too along with the code.

--Thank you Stuart for your reply. One question and that is...Is this code means any BAR on entering USA?
Thanks again.

No ... but I'll ask again ... Why did he *Tell* you he wouldn't admit
you? The code is not the only thing that may be in the computer ...
there may be a description that could cause more grief ... You need to
deal with that before trying again.

I think he may have fallen victim to the new rule that visaless travel to
the US is no longer available for Canadian PRs from Commonwealth
countries, only for actual Canadian citizens. If that is the case, the
solution is as easy as applying for a tourist visa at a US consulate in
Canada.
