The down side to this is that if your mid-brain is in full gear (the parts that process fear) your frontal cortex is no longer able to take charge of the brain. If the fight/flight response is falsely triggered as in a panic attack, it is very difficult to reason with oneself or have someone else reason with you to stop the attack.

we're desperate for a return to moderate progression of a country that has turned 9/11 sympathy into hatred by the outside community.
we're desperate for a country not run for the sole aim of a selected few
we're desperate to embrace the outside world not to insult it
we're desperate to pump money into schools, roads, health....not pump money into religious programs or phoney wars.
we're desperate to ascertain equal rights for all, not equal rights for all so long as your not gay.
we're desperate for a president who isn't a laughing stock
we're desperate for a vice president who doesn't shoot people in the face or leak names of undercover CIA Agents and allow their PA to take the fall.
We're desperate for a government that will promote a middle class not destroy it.
