Daughter eligible for British Passport?

I am an American, born in the US, whose British parents registered my birth with the British Embassy when I was born, allowing me to have British citizenship and a British Passport. I recently had a daughter myself, also born in the US. Is she eligible for a British Passport through me? Can I register her birth with the British Embassy? Any thoughts much appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Daughter eligible for British Passport?

Unless your parents were in the U.S. working for the British government when you were born then you are considered British by decent only and as such are unable to pass on British citizenship to your daughter. The only way in which you could claim British citizenship for her is if you yourself were to have spent time living in the UK - I think it is 3 years and you would need to provide evidence of this.
