I hadn't heard of them, so I found this discouraging review:

Re: Cutco knives
hubby to be had a couple, there was another one but i managed to break it trying to cut the heart out of a cabbage, not sure if it was operator error or just that I got the better of the knife. Personally I prefer my Kitchenaid knives.

Re: Cutco knives
I splashed out on a set of pricey knives for hubby, and he loves them, think they were henkels? however you spell it.
Me personally though, I bought some of the ceramic colourful ones from TJ maxx and they are my fave. Bought them individually, and got some santoku's, some chefs ones and some smaller ones, they are SOOOO sharp. Have sliced into myself many times haha :P |

I've always been fond of Sabatier knives. Family have a set of Cutco, I don't like them at all and they never seem sharp.

Sabatier, like the Globals, need to check them out, some are awesome, some less so. Really good knives, but depends how they feel in your hands as they have different balance.

Re: Cutco knives
We still have a couple of 40 year old STEEL, not stainless steel, brass rivet, wood handle Sabatiers, cost big £'s back then. Few swipes on the Steel, will cut through anything. They also, have to be washed dried & oiled. Have a newer one, stainless steel, brass rivets, wood handle, great cut.
Trouble is, as I found out many years ago, while looking at new ones, they are not all created equal. I always thought it was, a French Brand name, until the salesman, in Harrods, gave us the lecture. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabatier Reg. Frank R. |
