Current status...? Please help
 

Hi all,

We posted a message on May 23rd but has gotten no replies as yet :( Please help if any of you know anything about the following questions. Thanks.

1. On I485, if out of status, do we have to write that as the current INS status? Or F1, the original status?

2. Name on birth certificate is different from current passport used. Do we have to put that down on other names used?

3. Do we write the names of parents as per birth certificate or current name used?

4. I don't have an A# as yet, so do I leave those blank or do I write None?

Can't help, left for others.

Yes. Do that.

I would put birth cert names then include other names in a covering letter.

I would. A covering letter is a useful place for any extra info (like 3 above) and a
good place to put a list of everything (all the documents) you are including in your
application (eg if you have an Addendum or Appendix to give extra info, list it's
existence in the covering letter) - it's just one more way or trying to make sure
your papers all stay together. The officer then always has a list of what he/she
should find with the application.

Thank you so much for your reply :) I read a lot of posts saying that the National Cust. Serv. Cntr is not a very good source for answers. So I'd like to make sure that the lady whom I spoke with is right about the only one question that she managed to give me an answer to...on I-130, Part C #17, does my husband (USC) include himself on that question? Also, I read a post recently stating that if an A# is not available as yet, just leave all those blank instead of putting none?

A# is a randomly selected identification number issued by INS when you file for the
application, it eventually becomes your Permanet Residenc (Green Card) number. You
would not have A#, until you file with the INS. So just leave it blank.

On your question about I-486 about Out of Status, I would not write OUT OF STATUS for
sure. You can put down, "Student (F-1), Adjusting Status to Permanent Resident".
