Curiouser and curiouser
 

You may remember a post of mine from a few days ago regarding CR6 after 2 years of marriage. In a nutshell, my letter of approval said I was CR6 though the approval date (on the same letter) was 2 years and a month after our 2nd anniversary. The printed date on the letter was 2 months before our interview.

So anyway, I got a NOA from Vermont today (Case Type I 181 - Creation of Record of Lawful Permanent Residence) that says Welcome to the United States (although I have been here for 12 years now F1->H1->130/485).

It has two interesting things:

1. We will soon mail you a new Permanent Resident Card. You should receive it in the next 3 weeks. If you don't receive it in the next 3 weeks, give us a call.

Yes, it says 3 weeks , not 3 months.

2. Your new card will expire in 10 years.

So....the approval notice from Newark was incorrect. It seems that the DAO really *was* on top of things.

But then again, I am not going to get excited until I see the card. Rita, that is the important date, right?

Also, I went to get my passport stamped on Wednesday and here is the another curious thing - the lady said that the moment the letter I held in my hand is mailed, the file is sent to Vermont. If I wanted to argue about the CR6 versus IR6, they would have to recall the file etc etc. So I decided to get the passport stamped anyway rather than risk getting the file lost in transit.

The interesting thing seems that in Newark they don't care if you come get your passport stamped or not. They will send your file to VT anyway.

I guess I'll wait till I see the card before I start celebrating (and remove all the bookmarks pertaining to the 751 webpages :) )
